Miami Vice reboot

Seems a bit quiet in here :(
How many did notice the news item about a fortnight ago about a reboot of Miami Vice?
Vin Diesel's production company or some such apparently is planning to bring it back.
Good news/bad news/could not care less?

Hi Jeff, of course I've noticed it.

Only... I have to be honest in this - I don't think it will become a big catch.
I fear a bit it rather scratches at the good light with the original cast and SOUL of MV in th 80s...

I am sorry but this is with me.

Nah, I must say that I tend to agree with you here.
Was utterly dissapointed with the movie, 'haps this could be just a tad better.

Hello everyone!

I also agree with you both. I remembre only one case of a reboot that work as good as the original because it catched the essence of the series but took a diferente aproach to it ( I´m thinking of BSGalactica). And surely that won´t be the case with Miami Vice because there is so much to the series that has to do with the era, and Sonny and Rico have so much of Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas that I believe that those actors ARE those characters and no one will ever play them with the same result. And that goes for Castillo and the ladies also. Still, if it happens I will watch it. Probably to go and see the original once more. :swing:

I still can´t get over Colin Farrell as Sonny… He is a good actor but it just was not right :daumenrunter:

Yup. I don't know how exactly but I think the whole movie was somehow askew. Wardrobe, cars, boats, guns, plot and people all bit twisted :(
